Kelsey Bishop

Kelsey Leeson enters her fifth season with the Nanooks in 2023-24.

After spending 2019-21 as an assistant under Becca Weiland and Cam Kainer, she spent 2021-22 as the Interim Head Coach before returning to her role as the assistant coach with the hiring of Ksenia Gromova in 2022-23. 

Leeson joined the Nanooks swim staff in 2019-20 after graduating from St. Cloud State University in 2017. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology. Leeson swam at St. Cloud State racing in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle individually. She was also a part of the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay and finally the 800-yard freestyle relay. 

Leeson was the 2015-16 captain and is the current school record-holder in the 200 and 400-yard medley relays. In 2015, Leeson was named to the NSISC Academic All-American Team for her work as a student-athlete. Prior to Alaska, Leeson helped coach the Holdingford High School girls team in Minnesota. She also assisted at Roccori High School. Outside of Alaska and Minnesota, Leeson coached at Juan Diego Catholic High School and Summit Academy High Schools in Utah.
