2011-12 as a senior: Received team's Most Inspirational Award...Part of third-place 400 medley relay vs. Colorado Mesa, Jan. 27.

2010-11 as a junior: Africa joined the team part way through the season this year; despite spending most of the season as a red-shirt, she worked hard and was a constant encourager for her teammates; selected to receive the Most Inspirational Award by her teammates at the conclusion of the season.

Prior to Alaska: Grew up competing as a diver and gymnast in Port Townsend, WA; attended Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA, where she obtained AAS (Associates Arts & Sciences Degree) in 2009; competed in the Run of the Valkyries, Run of Refuge (6th place) and the 2010 Equinox Marathon (4th in age group).

Personal: Daughter of Kit and Shannon Africa; majoring in Geology with interests in Mineral Exploration and Mapping.
