Biography

2010-11: Helped the Nanooks claim their fifth straight Nordic Cup with his 14th place finish in the 8K Freestyle with a time of 32:04.4 and his 11th place finish in the 10K Classic with a 31:24.3.

2009-10: Finished 6th place during the individual day at the Nordic Cup Competition; helped his team finish second during the Nordic Cup Relay; earned 11th place at the US Championships Classic Sprint Race; finished 12th place in the US National Championship Sprint Freestyle; helped his team take 1st place in the Minnesota Ski Relay; took 17th in the CCSA Ski Championships 10K Classic.

2007-08: Redshirted second season with the Nanooks.

2006-07: Qualified for NCAA Championships, where he finished 36th in the 10K Freestyle in New Hampshire; took collegiate 10th place at the 15K Classic at Telemark; finished 12th in the Classic and 17th in the Freestyle at the CCSA Championships.

Prior to Alaska: Finished 6th at the Nordic Junior Championships in Freestyle Spring; placed 32nd at the World Junior Championships in Freestyle Sprint; at the Estonian Nationals he was a two-time 1st place finisher, four-time 2nd place finisher, and one-time 3rd place finisher; he also placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Hansapank Cup Series.

Personal: Mother is Parja Soom; hobbies include cycling, volleyball, football and music.
