Ben Buck is entering his second season on the Nanooks Nordic ski coaching staff.
He joined head coach Eliska Albrigtsen in 2022-23 and assisted the 'Nooks to tying their best-finish ever at the NCAA Ski Championships. Alaska took seventh-place at the 2023 NCAA Ski Championships with the Nanooks men's team finishing as the best men's Nordic team and the women's team finishing third. As a team, the 'Nooks were the third-best Nordic team at NCAA's, earning 268 points.
He also helped coach four student-athletes to seven All-American honors and an individual national champion as Joe Davies took Gold in the men's 10k freestyle.
Buck joined the Nanooks after spending the 2021-22 season with Clarkson University, his alma mater. He helped develop a race-day wax testing protocol with ski, regularly making the call on the final race-day wax combinations and helped produce high quality skis for athletes. He also helped the cross country team at Clarkson. He cooperated with the head coach to collect individual split times when accessible and analyzed splits to highlight trends in pacing. Using this information, they dive into athlete development and race strategy.
Prior to joining the Clarkson staff for the 21-22 season, Buck raced for the Golden Knights' Nordic ski team from 2017-2020.
