On Sept. 9, he posted a 29:05.0 in an 8k race at the Nanook Frontier Clash in Fairbanks … Took 104th at the WWU Bill Roe Classic 2023 … In the 8k race, Atkins set a season-high time finishing in 28.28.9 … Took 122nd at the San Francisco State Invitational … Ran the 8k race in 29:07.7 ... Gustavus/Juneau-Douglas High School
Went to Gustavus High School for three years before graduating from Juneau-Douglas in Juneau, Alaska. At JDHS, he won the individual regional title and team title before finishing seventh individually at the D1 Championships in Anchorage. At the D3 level, he won regionals and and placed fourth at Championships as a sophomore before finishing 13th as a junior at D3 Championships. Also played mix six volleyball and basketball. In volleyball, Kona won regionals his freshman, sophomore and junior year.
