Biography

2010-11: Returning to the Nanooks for his final season, Sabo finished his collegiate career strong; he helped the Nanooks claim their fifth straight Nordic Cup with his 11th place and 7th place finishes in the 8K Freestyle and 8K Classic, respectively; at the US National Championships, Sabo finished 74th in the 1.4K Classic Sprint with a time of 3:39.97, 51st in the 15K Classic with a 47:23.1, and 34th in the 30K Freestyle with a 1:15:57.9; at the CSSA Hilltop Invitational, Sabo took his career-high 2nd place finish in the 10K Freestyle with a time of 30:27.3 and 5th in the 10K Classic with a 32:00.0; at the Mayor's Challenge he was the top Nanook finisher in the 10K Freestyle, taking 9th overall, with a time of 24:45.5 and finished 16th in the 15K Classic SuperTour with a time of 40:52.2; Sabo finished out his season by helping the Nanooks finish second at the NCAA Central Region Championships with his 9th place finish in the 10K Freestyle with a 27:12.7 and his 14th place finish in the 10K Classic with a 29:17.1; he earned All-CCSA Second Team Honors and was named to the USCSCA All-Academic Team; served as his team's representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee; recognized for Academic Honors by the Athletic Department.

2009-10: Finished 4th during the individual race in the Nordic Cup Competition; helped his team take 1st place in the Nordic Cup Relay and also in the Minnesota Ski Relay; finished 15th in the 15K Classic Mayor's Challenge; took 11th in the CCSA Ski Championships 10K Classic.

2008-09: Finished 10th at the Alaska Nordic Cup; finished 2nd for the Nanooks at the Telemark Super Tour, 24th overall, in the 10K Freestyle; placed 19th at Camp Ripley in the 20K Freestyle.

2007-08: Finished year as CCSA 10th-Ranked Skier; took season-high 7th place in Telemark Super Tour 15K Classic; qualified for NCAA's with a clutch 10th place finish in season's final race, a 15K Classic at NCAA Central Regionals; took 13th and 14th collegiately at season's final two Freestyle races, at Telemark SuperTour and Regionals, respectively.

2006-07: Redshirted his first year with the Nanooks.

Prior to Alaska: Won the 2002 British Columbia Games; placed 1st in the Sprints and 2nd in Distance Classic at the Western Canadian Championships; 6th place finish out of 66 juniors in Distance Freestyle at the Canadian National Championships.

Personal: Son of Charlie and Angela Sabo; has one sister, Terri; enjoys reading, traveling, school and sports; currently majoring in Natural Resource Management.
