Biography

2010-11: For his senior season, Rutter continuously topped the scoreboard for the Nanooks in both smallbore and air rifle; he led the Nanook in the five wins they claimed this season; his season-best performance came during the win against Citadel where he finished with a 589 in smallbore and a 584 in air rifle; at NCAA Qualifiers he topped that performance with team-high marks in smallbore with a 588 and air rifle with a 586, earning him a spot on the smallbore shooting team for Nationals; at the NCAA National Championships he helped the smallbore team to their 5th place finish, shooting a 580; his performance throughout the season earned him All-American First Team honors in smallbore.

2009-10:
Rutter started his junior season with a pair of match-high marks in the win against UTEP with a 592 in air rifle and a 583 in smallbore; continued to be the teams top smallbore shooter for the teams six more regular season wins; earned season-best scores in the first match against Air Force, finishing with a 590 in air rifle and a 588 in smallbore; at the NCAA Qualifiers Rutter shot a 581 in smallbore and a 587 in air rifle, earning him spots on both of the shooting teams for Nationals; at the NCAA National Championships he came away with a 581 in smallbore, helping the Nanooks claim the Smallbore National Champion Team title and helped the air rifle team to their 6th place finish; the Nanooks finished 2nd overall at the National Championships.

2008-09:
Led team in smallbore scores with a 589 and second with a 586 on air rifle against a victory over Army on Jan. 21; high scores of 587 (4th place) in air rifle against UTEP on Sept. 26; shot a 583 (1st place) in smallbore against Nebraska on Oct. 26; First Team All-American in Smallbore Rifle; Second Team All-American in Air Rifle; received Academic All-American honors.

2007-08: Earned first-team All-American honors in air rifle; member of the national champion air rifle team, shooting 586 at the NCAA Championships; also shot a 581 in smallbore at the NCAA Championships in West Point, making him the only Nanook shooter to qualify for the finals in both NCAA events; averaged 585.0 in air gun for the season, including a season-high 596 in the NCAA qualifier against UTEP on Feb. 17; shot 587 or better in his final six air gun matches, breaking the 590 barrier in four of those matches.

Prior to Alaska: Competed with the Palmyra Jr. Rifle Team for six years; 2005 he claimed first place at the Canadian Air Gun Gran Prix, Camp Perry Championships, and at the US Nationals; named Pennyslvania State Indoor Champion in 2006; placed second at the Pennsylvania Junior Olympic Rifle Championships in 2007; shot a perfect 800 at the 2005 American Legion Championships in the prone position; also played the attack position in lacrosse for five years; 2005 he had 7 goals in one game and 50 goals for the season.

Personal: Son of David and Barbara Rutter; currently majoring in Business Administration.
