FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams hosted the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves for the annual Blue/Gold Race on the UAF campus. UAA defeated the Nanooks in both races.

The Nanooks fell in the men's race 50-15 and in the women's race 36-22. Tabitha Williams highlighted the day by winning the women's 6k race. Williams, a senior, posted a winning time of 22:24, winning by over 10 seconds. Natalie Allen was the top-finisher for the Seawolves following in second with a 22:36. Sadie Johnson was the next scoring Nanooks racer, finishing fifth in her freshman debut for the blue and gold. She finished the 6k in 23:49. Mila Moseley and Olivia Manley closed out the top-10 finishes for Alaska, taking ninth and 10th, respectively. Rory Claussen followed in 11th before the Nanooks placed 13th-21st. 

UAA finished with a 22-36 victory in the 2026 opener. 

In the men's race, the Nanooks were led by freshman Aidan Niedbalski, placing 11th in his collegiate debut with an 8k time of 27:21. Brady Benedict followed in 12th with a finishing time of 28:00. Max Erickson placed 13th with a 28:15 as the third scorer for the 'Nooks. 

Ned Peters and Mats Langenkamp were the final scorers for the Nanooks men's team, placing 14th and 15th, respectively. The men's team fell to the Seawolves 15-50. 

The Nanooks and Seawolves race again next weekend in Anchorage in the Seawolf Throwdown at Kincaid Park.
