ANCHORAGE - The Nanooks men's and women's cross country teams ran at the Seawolf Throwdown at Kincaid Park on Saturday morning. Both teams fell to the Seawolves in head-to-head races in Anchorage.
The men's race ran first at 10 a.m. Sam Griffin of UAA won the 8k race with a time of 26:20.
Nick Iverson was the top-finisher for the Nanooks, placing second with a time of 26:34, following the leader by 14 seconds. Aiden Niedbalski and
Ian Baker followed in fourth and fifth with times of 26:48 and 26:49, respectively.
Max Erickson and
Brady Benedict were the final Nanooks men's racers in the top 10 and were the final scorers, placing ninth and 10th. Erickson posted a 27:33 while Benedict finished in 27:40.
Ned Peters followed in 11th, crossing the finish line in 27:58.
Blake Hanley and
Mats Langenkamp took spots 12-13 with times of 28:15 and 28:42.
Paxson Ott,
Andrew Severs, and
Jaxon Freeman were the final racers to finish for Alaska, taking 16-18.
The men's team fell to UAA 25-30.
In the women's race,
Iris Haas led the 'Nooks, placing second behind UAA's Natalie Allen, who won the race in 22:51. Haas followed by 15 seconds, finishing the 6k in 23:06. She was the only top-five finisher for the Nanooks as
Rory Claussen followed in sixth with a 23:51.
Sadie Johnson took seventh with a 23:52, and
Mila Moseley closed out top 10 finishes, placing ninth with a 23:59.
Devyn Townsend was the last scoring finish for the women's team; she took 12th with a 25:35.
Abi Howe,
Lilian Coy, and
Sadie Schenk rounded out the race with spots 13-15.
The women's team fell 21-36.
Alaska will continue its 2026 campaign on Sept. 26 with a trip to Bellingham, Wash., for the 2026 Bill Roe Classic, hosted by Western Washington University.
