FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks swim team hosts Westmont College this Friday and Saturday for a pair of dual meets at the Patty Center Pool. These will be Alaska's final home meets of the season.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks return to action for the first time since Nov. 22-24 when they competed at the Logger Invitational. The Nanooks took second in the invite, recording 992 total points, while Simon Fraser would finish first.
The three-day meet saw various Nanooks take first in their respective events, with Charlotte Fletcher-Stables starting things off with a first-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke A-Final, finishing in 26.19. Dorka Dancsok would also take the top spot in the 200-yard IM on day one, posting a 2:06.70. The 'Nooks would also break the program record for the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of Ali Pecore, Jordan O'Connor, Sam Bristor and Janci Pangburn finished in 1:34.68 to take second. Alaska ended the day with the 400-yard medley relay, which saw Fletcher-Stables hit an NCAA B Cut on her lead-off leg in the backstroke.
The relay team of Fletcher-Stables, Dancsok, Cosima Schmiedel and Pangburn began day two by taking second in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing less than two seconds off the lead in 1:45.10. Dancsok would collect her first victory of the day in the 400-yard IM, posting a 4:34.53 to finish over six seconds in front of the second-place swimmer. She would place first once more on the day, this time in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:05.62 and giving her three wins over the first two days of competition.
Tori Shoemaker began the day by posting the second-best time in the 1650-yard freestyle in program history, finishing her race in 17:24.23 for a fifth-place finish. Pangburn hit an NCAA B Cut in the 100 freestyle, placing third with a 51.63. Dancsok nearly picked up her third win of the weekend, finishing 0.68 seconds behind the first-place finisher in the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 2:21.77. Schmiedel also nearly picked up the victory, finishing the 200 butterfly in 2:08.35, 0.23 seconds behind first.

- Dorka Dancsok sits fifth and third in the conference in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, posting 1:05.62 and 2:21.77, respectively.
- Dancsok also ranks in the top five in the 200 and 400-yard IM, with her 2:06.20 good for third in the 200 IM and her 4:34.53 putting her fourth in the 400 IM.
- Adeline Berry's time of 26.51 in the 50 butterfly is third best in the PCSC.
- Cosima Schmiedel swam to a 2:08.35 in the 200 butterfly at the Logger Invitational, which puts her fifth in the conference.
- The relay team of Fletcher-Stables, Dancsok, Schmiedel and Pangburn ranks second in the PCSC in the 400 medley relay after finishing in 3:49.10 at the Logger Invitational.
- The Nanooks have won their last four dual meets against Westmont.
CSCAA College National Open Water ChampionshipsÂ
Over the break, Tori Shoemaker competed in the CSCAA College National Open Water Championship 5k in Biscayne Bay, Fla. on Sunday, Dec. 15. She finished the 5k race in 1:07:20.70, placing 12th among all swimmers. She finished 0.81 seconds in front of the 13th-place finisher and 1.22 seconds behind Purdue's Adele Sands. Shoemaker posted the top time among all Division II swimmers in the event, leading by 1:45.90.
Senior Day
The Nanooks will honor Kylee Carter, Jordan O'Connor, Tori Shoemaker, Naomi Burgan, Payton Wojciechowicz, Charlotte Fletcher-Stables and Adeline Berry this weekend for their Senior Day. Come celebrate our seniors in their final meet at the Patty Center Pool.
