BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Alaska Nanooks Cross Country team is on the road this week as they head to Bellingham for the annual Bill Roe Classic, hosted by Western Washington University. The men will be hitting the Hovander Park trails at 9 a.m. with the women following immediately after at 10 a.m.
Oh Sweet Victory
The 'Nooks are feeling good after their first home meet two weeks ago where the women came out on top over the Seawolves of UAA, scoring 19-37. The women placed one-two-three in the 6k with Rosie Fordham, Kendall Kramer and Katharine Brigham taking the lead.
The Nanook men fell to the Seawolves by a mere three points, yet still, sophomore Ben Dohlby took a commanding lead for the Nanooks, placing third overall in the 8k.
Something to Prove
Both the Nanook men's and women's teams are looking to prove themselves against the high ranked Vikings of Western Washington this weekend. The WWU men's team is currently ranked second in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Regional Rankings, with the women being ranked first.
The Nanook women were ranked fourth in the same poll that was released this last Tuesday, showing there are feet to catch and much on the horizon to look forward to.
