FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks bookended their 2023-24 athletics year with the Nanooks Awards Ceremony at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel on Wednesday, April 17.
12 awards were given out to student-athletes, coaches and staff members for their hard work and dedication this season. "This year was all about determination, raising the bar, and positive momentum for all of Nanooks athletics." Said Director of Athletics, Brock Anundson, "We're excited to have celebrated all of our student-athletes and award winners from Wednesday's banquet. We were also honored to have included presenters Bart LeBon, Ann Tremarello, and a newly established award for Dr. Cary and Sarah Keller. A truly remarkable evening to wrap-up a great season."
Following an opening statement from Anundson, the winners were honored.
Cary and Sarah Keller Community Service Award
For a student-athlete who embodies the Keller tradition of volunteer service. This award recognizes an individual who achieves an exemplary number of service hours as a UAF student-athlete and demonstrates valuable contributions to the UAF and Fairbanks community.
Winner: Jace Peters, M XC/Ski
Linda Moffitt Leadership in Courage Award
For a female student-athlete whose actions have demonstrated leadership to promote social justice, equality, diversity and equal opportunity for women. Nominated by women coaches and staff. Linda Moffitt was a student at UAF who wrote a letter in 1973 to the Office of Civil Rights in Washington, D.C. to report discrimination within the athletic department. Linda's courageous action has had a positive impact for opportunities for women on campus and throughout the state.

Bart LeBon Humanitarian Award
For a student-athlete who embodies a positive athletic role through selfless volunteer work in the community.
Winner: Matt Koethe, HKY
Joe Tremarello Sportsmanship Award
For a student-athlete who competes with respect and acts in a professional manner.
Winner: Marina Gonzalez Mazo, RIF
Harris Shelton Spirit of Competition
For a student-athlete whose never-say-quit attitude is the finest among Nanooks.
Winner: Rosie Fordham, W XC/Ski
Owen Tinker Fan of the Year
For a person who passionately supports the Alaska Nanooks and it's student-athletes in competition and in the community.
Winner: Togi Letuligasenoa
Staff Member of the Year
For a staff person who has demonstrated excellent performance and commitment to the Athletic Department.
Winner: Marisa Sharrah
Coach of the Year
For a coach who has had a successful season through demonstrated effectiveness.
Winner: Eliska Albrigtsen, XC/Ski
Most Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year
For student-athletes who have made the greatest impact on their program during this past season (2023-24).
Winner: Harrison Israels, HKY
Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year
For student-athletes who have made the greatest impact on their program during this past season (2023-24).
Winner: Kendall Kramer, W XC/Ski
Nanooks Academic Advisory Committee Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year
For one male and one female student-athlete with superior combined academic and athletic achievements.
Winner: Nolan Earnest, M XC
