ANCHORAGE - For the third-straight season, the Alaska Nanooks ski team claimed the Alaska Nordic Cup over the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves.
On Sunday, Dec. 17, both sides participated in a 10k freestyle. On the women's side,
Kendall Kramer led the way between the two teams, finishing in 28:11.4, more than 20 seconds better than UAA's top-finisher.
Mariel Pulles was the third finisher in the women's race, crossing the finish line in 28:36.4. The final scorer for the women's team was
Rosie Fordham, taking fifth-place amongst Alaska and UAA racers. She finished in 28:57.5 and was the final sub-29 finishing time.Â
Tabitha Williams followed behind with a time of 29:43.2,
Aila Berrigan finished in 30:31.3 and
Luise Graef rounded out the Alaska racers with a 32:04.1. Alaska's top-three in the women's race finished in a combined time of 1:25:44.13 while UAA's top-three finished in 1:27:57.24, giving the Nanooks more than a two-minute advantage.Â
In the men's race,
Mike Ophoff was the top-finisher for Alaska, taking third amongst Alaska and UAA racers. He posted a time of 24:51.7.
Christopher Kalev followed closely behind with a finishing time of 24:59.7.
Ben Dohlby was the final scoring racer for the men's team, crossing the 10k finish line in 25:27.0.
Josh Baurick and Aiden Hay were the final racers for Alaska in the 10k; Baurick finished the day in 26:22.2 and Hay followed right behind with a finishing time of 26:29.7.
UAA's top-three was one minute faster than Alaska's at 1:15:05.2 to 1:16:13.6, but over the two days, Alaska won the Nordic Cup.
