Nanooks Name Nathan Archer Newest Strength & Conditioning Coach

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks athletic department and Director of Athletics, Dr. Brock Anundson, have announced the hiring of Nathan Archer MS, CSCS as their Strength and Conditioning coach.

"Nathan is a fantastic addition to UAF Athletics, as his dynamic athletic strength & conditioning experience will provide an added edge for our Nanook student-athletes." Said Anundson, "We're excited to bring him aboard, as he'll hit the ground running as we start the new year."

Archer joins the Nanooks after spending the last six months at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. As the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, Archer designed and implemented programs for throwers on the track & field team while also assisting the fencing, volleyball, baseball and softball coaches during their team lifts. Prior to Notre Dame, Archer spent nearly two full years at the University of Wisconsin as an Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach. He worked closely with men's and women's hockey, basketball, golf, volleyball, track & field and softball while in Madison.

During hockey season, he programmed and ran extra training sessions for healthy scratches while overseeing weight room sessions for the men's basketball freshmen. He also assisted track athletes with velocity-based training using GymAware units. 

He has also seen time at the University of Texas as an Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach, Appleby College as a Strength Coach/Program Developer and McCaster University as an Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach. He holds a B.C. from the University of Guelph in Marketing, an A.D. in Fitness & Health Promotion from Humber College Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin. 

Archer's first day was Monday, July 11.
