FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks athletic department has announced a list of upcoming summer camps.
Cross country running, ice hockey, men's basketball, and volleyball all have sport-related camps lined up for the summer of 2021. An all-day Nanooks Field Day Camp is also lined up for a full week of activities, sport variation and time to hang out with their favorite Alaska athletes and coaches.
Cross Country
2021 Lil 'Nook Epic Running Cup
Lil' Nook Epic Running Cup takes you through all sorts of running races that you can dream of just in five days! Each day, your coaches will lead you through a good warm up routine and will preview the race course with you, while uncovering all secrets of that type of running! We will visit the woods; the track and we will even have an obstacle running race! If you become the winner of all the five races, your prize will be a pair of free running shoes of your choice! You can sign up for all the races at once to save some $$, or sign up separately for a race of your choice. We are looking forward to running with you!!! UAF XC Running Team.

3 Age Categories:
- 1st: born 2016, 2015, 2014
- 2nd: born 2013, 2012, 2011
- 3rd: born 2010, 2009, 2008
If we do not have more than 5 kids in a category, we will not run the race for that group. The racers in that category can join the older group or the other gender. The win will only count if at least 5 racers are present from your age group or if you compete with older kids or as a girl with boys. (= racing up)
Meeting Location: First day at Patty Center, remaining camp day locations will be announced by the coach

Ice Hockey
2021 Edge Boss Day Camp
- Develop skills and fundamentals under the supervision of current and past Alaska Nanook players and coaches.
- Improve: skating, puck handling, goal scoring, passing, confidence
- Use new state of the art Edge Boss apparatuses designed to improve puck control. These are the same techniques NHL teams use, along with the Alaska Nanooks to get ready for the upcoming season.
What to Bring:
- Full hockey gear
- Workout clothes (shorts, shirts, shoes, etc.)
Camp Features:
- Two 45 minute on-ice training sessions daily with Alaska Hockey coaching staff and players.
- One 45 minute off Ice workout daily with Nanook players. Off ice workouts will include conditioning, agility, games and other fun activities

Jesse Brown and current Alaska Nanook men's basketball players for days of basketball learning. Each day will be filled with skill development at the individual level, basketball skill games and 5-on-5 action on the court!
All skill levels are encouraged to attend.

Intermediate, Beginner and Advanced Camps available
Beginner Camp Info
This Beginner Camp is designed for those just starting to play volleyball. Typically, campers will have 0-2 years of experience. These campers may not be able to overhand serve and are still learning an approach and how to attack the ball.
Campers are normally in the 7th - 9th grades but experience more than age should determine participation.

This intermediate camp is designed for individuals with some volleyball experience. Typically, campers will have 1-3 years of experience. These campers should be able to overhead serve and be experimenting with a jump float or jump serve.
Campers may still be learning an approach and how to attack the ball, but should be comfortable making an attempt. Campers are normally in the 7
th-9
th grades, but experience more than age should determine participation.

This advanced camp is designed for individuals with a good foundation of volleyball skills. Typically, campers have 3+ years of experience. These campers can overhand serve with ease, may jump float or jump serve but are at least experimenting with one. Campers should be comfortable attacking the ball and looking for ways to make improvements.
Campers are normally in the 9
th – 12
th grades, but experience more than age should determine participation.

Field Day Camp
This camp is designed to provide a wide range of Field Day game activities including, but not limited to; basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, kickball, capture the flag, and more! This action-packed camp will be filled with fun and exciting activities supervised by student-athletes and coaches.
