Opted-Out
The Nanooks hockey team and men and women's basketball teams officially opted-out of their 2020-21 seasons on Friday, Dec. 11. The men's ice hockey team will not play their intended WCHA-only season, leaving the WCHA with eight teams on the season while the men and women's basketball teams will not play in their intended GNAC-only season. This decision leaves the GNAC with only three schools choosing to play.

Good to Go
While the Nanooks hockey and basketball teams are not competing due to COVID and health risks, two non-contact sports are continuing on with their season in 2021. The Nanooks rifle team will continue to compete, hosting TCU at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range. No spectators will be permitted in the Patty Center during rifle matches.

The Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team will begin competition in the New Year, spending the entire season on the road. Initial plans to host an event in Alaska were halted due to COVID-19. The 'Nooks will now head to Salt Lake City, Utah three separate times with hopes of competing at the NCAA Championships in Jackson, New Hampshire.
