Olds Named @AlaskaNanooks Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations

FAIRBANKS, Alaska –
On Monday, Alaska Nanooks Director of Athletics Sterling Steward, Jr. officially announced the hiring of Terlynn Olds, who becomes the new Associate Athletic Director of Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator. Olds began her new position at the University of Alaska Fairbanks on May 28.

"Ms. Olds is a quality athletic administrator and she brings a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge to the UAF Athletics Department," Steward said on Wednesday. "I am extremely pleased to have her join our current staff. She has worked at a variety of institutions, which should allow her to excel in her new position."

Olds has over 21 years of experience in collegiate athletics, specifically in the facilitation and oversight of athletic programs, policies and initiatives. Furthermore, Olds has experience in senior leadership positions that have served more than 1,500 student-athletes across multiple teams and NCAA divisions.

Olds joins the Alaska Nanooks after serving as the Deputy Director of Athletics and Business Manager at Grambling State University, an NCAA Division I program, located in Grambling, Louisiana. Olds oversaw each of Grambling's 15 varsity athletic teams and their operations and supervised, managed and evaluated 24 full-time coaches, 17 athletic administrators and over 350 student-athletes.

Prior to her time at Grambling, Olds served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics: Internal and Business Operations at Chicago State University (DI) in Chicago, Illinois, the Director of Athletics at Chatham University (DIII) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Associate Director of Athletics at Spelman College (DIII) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Before becoming an athletic administrator, Olds served as a longtime collegiate men's and women's basketball coach. Her coaching stints included time at DI programs Florida A&M and Palm Beach State College, while also coaching at several other DII and DIII programs.

Olds graduated from Saint Leo University with a bachelor of arts in sports business in 1998 before earning a master's of science in science of sports coaching from the United States Sports Academy in 2002 before earning another masters of science in criminal justice from Saint Leo University in 2008.

Furthermore, Olds serves on several committees involved with collegiate athletics, including the Women Leaders Membership Committee, the MOAA Special Events Committee, the CSU Strategic Planning Committee and the NCAA Division III Sportsman & Game Environment Committee.
