Oda Bygdnes will be the final Alaska Nanook to officially compete in a 2018-19 competition throughout the entire UAF athletic department, as she is set to participate in the 2019 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships on Thursday, Mar. 14 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bygdnes is the only individual from the Alaska Nanooks swim team to qualify for the national championships and the first in two seasons. The Harstad, Norway native will be competing in the 100-yard butterfly event on Thursday morning.

- Nordic Ski: The Alaska Nanooks had four individuals compete in the 2019 NCAA Skiing National Championships in Stowe, Vermont last week, competing in the 10/5km individual-start, freestyle race on Wednesday before racing in the 20/15km mass-start, classic race on Friday. Sophomore Anja Maijala and senior Kati Roivas represented the Alaska Nanooks women's Nordic ski team, while senior Max Donaldson and redshirt-senior Seiji Takagi competed on behalf of the Alaska men's Nordic ski team.
- Rifle: The Alaska Nanooks coed rifle team closed-out the 2018-19 season at the 2019 NCAA Rifle National Championships in Morgantown, West Virginia last week, placing eighth in the overall team rankings. The Nanooks finished eighth in team smallbore and fifth in team air rifle, while senior JT Schnering posted a fourth place finish in the individual air rifle finals.
- Hockey: The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell in back-to-back nights to the Northern Michigan Wildcats last weekend in a best-of-three WCHA quarterfinal series in Marquette, Michigan. The Nooks fell 5-4 in double-overtime on Friday before their comeback fell shot on Saturday, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Wildcats. Under first-year head coach Erik Largen, the Nooks closed out the 2018-19 season with a 12-21-3 overall mark on the season, going 12-14-2-2 in conference play.
2019 Nanook Student-Athlete Achievement Awards set for Friday, Mar. 22Â
For the first time, the Alaska Nanooks' 2019 Student-Athlete Achievement Awards will be open to the public. The all-sports banquet will be held at the Westmark Gold Room in Fairbanks on Friday, Mar. 22, with check-in set for 6:30pm AKST and the program set to begin at 7pm AKST. SAAC Olympics Set for Saturday, Mar. 23
The Alaska Nanooks Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting their annual Nanook Olympics on Saturday, Mar. 23. In the Nanook Olympics, Alaska Nanook team will be playing each other's sports, while host teams have a handicap. The event is free and open to the public. More information in regards to a schedule will be posted next week.
