@AlaskaNanooksXC Finishes 2018-19 Regular Season at RMISA/West Regional Championships

ANCHORAGE, Alaska –
The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's Nordic ski teams closed-out the 2019 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Conference Championships and the NCAA West Regional Championships on Friday afternoon, competing in the 20/15km mass-start, classic race at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.

The Nooks finished seventh in the combined team Nordic rankings with 182 points, while the women finished sixth with 92 points and the men ranked seventh with 90 points.

Redshirt-junior Lukash Platil was the highest-ranking Alaska skier on the day, placing 18th in the men's 20km classic race with a time of 55:26.7 to earn 15 points. The finish is Platil's highest of the season.

Redshirt-senior Seiji Takagi followed closely behind, finishing 19th overall with a time of 56:01.9 to earn 14 points for the Nooks, with redshirt-freshman Logan Mowry rounding-out Alaska's scorers with a 22nd place finish and a time of 56:26.7.

In the women's 15km classic, sophomore Hannah Dueling was the first Alaska skier to cross the finish line, ranking 26th overall with a time of 53:27.7 for 13 points. It is Dueling's first finish as the leader of the Nanooks in her career.

Following Dueling was fellow sophomore Sage Robine, placing 28th overall with a time of 54:11.7 for 12 points, followed by freshman Kirsys Campbell, who ranked 29th overall with a time of 54:48.9 for 11 points to close-out Alaska's top-three.

The Nanooks await to see if they qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Vermont at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont on Wednesday, Mar. 6 and Saturday, Mar. 9.
