Men's Basketball 1-5, 0-0 GNAC
LAST: at Westminster, Dixie State (L, L) | NEXT: vs. Northern Michigan, Michigan Tech
The men's basketball team fell in both games while at the Westminster Invite on Nov. 22-23. In game one, they played the host team, Westminster University 77-89. Despite four players in double-digit scoring, the 'Nooks were not able to contain the Griffins in the first half, trailing by 15 at the break before outscoring Westminster 53-50 in the second half. In game two, the Nanooks faced off with Dixie State. They were down five at halftime but a strong second half propelled the Trail Blazers to a 78-90 victory over Alaska. The Nanooks head to Anchorage over Thanksgiving week and will face off with Northern Michigan on Nov. 29 and Michigan Tech on Nov. 30.

Women's Basketball 3-3, 0-0 GNAC
LAST: vs. Westminster, Parkside (L, W) | NEXT: North Star Invitational
The women's basketball team travelled to Anchorage to take part in the Seawolf Hoops Classic last weekend. In game one, they faced a good Westminster team, falling 64-84. The 'Nooks hung with the Griffins in the second and fourth quarters, but the opening quarter and right out of halftime proved to be the downfall for the 'Nooks. In game two, Alaska pulled off a big comeback to steal the win from the Rangers of Parkside. In the second half alone, the 'Nooks shot 58% from the field and 60% from three point range, pulling them within striking distance before taking the win away from the Rangers. This week, the Nanooks will host Chadron State, Converse College and Lake Erie State for the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational. All games will be played at the Patty Center on Alaska Airlines Court in Fairbanks.

Hockey 8-8-0, 6-3-0-0 WCHA
LAST: vs. Ferris State (L, W) | NEXT: vs. Michigan Tech
The hockey team is coming off of another split-weekend, having lost game one to Ferris State on Friday, Nov. 22, 2-3. After falling behind 0-2 early, the Nanooks grabbed two goals, one in the second period and another in the third before FSU scored again, breaking the tie late in the third period. The 'Nooks responded the next day, grabbing the win in a physical match. Alaska scored only three minutes into the game, extending it to a 2-0 lead early into the second period. The Bulldogs pulled within one late in the second but an empty netter secured the win for the 'Nooks late in the third period. Alaska stays at home this weekend, hosting Michigan Tech on Nov. 29-30. Come out for the annual teddy bear toss and a fun pregame of coloring with Santa!
