The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's ski teams opened Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association conference play Saturday in day one of the Colorado Invitational at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs, Co.

In the men's 10km freestyle senior Arnaud Guyon led the Nanooks with a 15th place finish in 28:02.5.

Followed by redshirt senior Seiji Takagi (17th), senior Max Donaldson (22nd) and redshirt sophomore Lukash Platil (23rd) all finishing inside the top-25 with times of 28:06.4, 28:24.4 and 28:29.4 respectively.

Rounding out the Nanook top-five was senior Tristan Sayre with a time of 29:42.0 placing 35th.              

In the Women's 5km freestyle senior Kati Roivas and was the first Nanook to cross the finish line, with a time of 15:19.4 and a 5th place finish.

Sophomore Anja Maijala placed 18th with a time of 15:56.4.

Freshman Kirsys Campbell finished in 17:46.2 followed closely by sophomore Hannah Dueling at 17:58.5 placing 37th and 38th respectively.

The Nanooks will return to Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs, CO. Sunday Jan. 13 for the classic 10/10km.
