FAIRBANKS, Alaska – With the weather warming up and the snow rapidly melting, the Alaska Nanooks men's and women's cross country running teams are ready to host the fourth annual Beach Bum 5km Run on Saturday, April 21st. The run is open to runners and walkers of all ages with all the proceeds benefiting the Alaska Nanooks' men's and women's cross country running teams.

Alaska Nanooks men's and women's cross country running head coach Nick Crawford said, "The Beach Bum 5km is a fun way to get outside and enjoy the spring weather, while also getting some healthy exercise and supporting the cross country runners. The Beach Bum was a very successful fundraiser last year and I'm always impressed at the size and dedication of the Fairbanks running community!"

The Beach Bum Run will start at 11am from the Taku Parking Lot off of Farmer's Loop Road and will feature a 5km loop on dirt and paced roads around the UAF campus. There is advanced registration for $20 at https://racesonline.com/events/beachbum5k2018. Day-of registration is $30 by cash or check, while UAF students can get a discounted registration fee of $10 with the presentation of their student IDs.
