This past weekend, the Alaska Nanooks hockey team earned their first sweep of the 2018-19 season by defeating the Ferris State Bulldogs at home. The Nooks scored 21 seconds into overtime on Friday to edge the Bulldogs 4-3 before downing FSU 6-2 on Saturday. The Nooks continue a two-week homestand this week by hosting the Lake Superior State Lakers in a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at the Carlson Center this Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8. Puck-drop both nights is scheduled for 7:07pm AKST.

The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team opened Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on the road last week, falling to Montana State Billings 79-76 on the road last Tuesday. The Nanooks play their final game of the month of December on Saturday, Dec. 8, hosting in-state rival Alaska Anchorage in a GNAC matchup at the Alaska Airlines Court at 2pm AKST.

The Seawolves edged the Nanooks for their second-straight Nordic Cup title by posting a combined team time that was 1:59 faster than Alaska.

  • Rifle: In November, Alaska went on their first road trip of the season, defeating UTEP on Nov. 15 before falling to TCU on Nov. 16 and Nevada in a two-day match (Nov. 17-18).

@NanooksHockey's Hope, Thompson Earn WCHA Player of the Week Honors
On Monday, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Alaska hockey's junior forward Kylar Hope and junior defenseman Tristan Thompson the Forward and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Hope and Thompson's efforts helped the Nanooks earn their first sweep of the season last weekend, defeating Ferris State 4-3 in overtime on Friday before earning a 6-2 victory on Saturday. Hope and Thompson both tallied four points over the weekend to tie for the league-high.

SAAC Teddy Bear Toss
Last weekend, the Alaska Nanooks Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday. The Nooks collected 240 stuffed animals that will be donated to Santa's Helpers, who will distribute them to families in need in the Fairbanks area around the holiday season.

Season ticket packages for the upcoming Alaska Nanooks hockey, men's basketball and women's basketball games are now on sale at the Alaska Nanooks Ticketing Office located in the lobby of the Patty Center. The Alaska Nanooks Ticketing Office is open Monday through Friday 11am – 7pm AKT and Saturday's 12pm – 6pm AKT on weeks where hockey is home.
