After falling to the No. 2 Alaska Anchorage Seawolves in a lone Great Northwest Athletic Conference match last week, the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team will host Multnomah University in a two-game nonconference series this Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Alaska Airlines Court. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm AKST on Saturday, while Sunday's game is slated for 3pm AKST.

The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team hosted the Cal Miramar Fighting Falcons in an exhibition game last Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Court. The 102-73 victory does not count toward the Nanooks' overall record or national statistics. Alaska will resume conference play this Sunday, as they take on the Concordia Cavaliers on Dec. 17 at 4pm AKST before travelling to Monmouth, Oregon to face the Western Oregon Wolves next Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Martinsson Named WCHA's Goaltender of the Week
On Monday, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced that Alaska Hockey's sophomore goaltender
Anton Martinsson was named the Goaltender of the Week. It is Martinsson's first WCHA Player of the Week honor of his career and the Nanooks' fourth conference recognition of the season. This past weekend, Martinsson backstopped the Nanooks to their first conference road sweep and second sweep of the season, defeating in-state rival Alaska Anchorage 7-2 on Friday before edging the Seawolves 3-2 on Saturday to earn six WCHA points. Martinsson collected 41 saves on the weekend to boast a .911 save percentage and finished the weekend with a 2.00 goals against average. The Klippan, Sweden native was the only WCHA goalie throughout the weekend to earn two victories.
