Ten from @AlaskaNanooksXC Named to GNAC All-Academic Team

PORTLAND, Ore. –
On Friday, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its selections for the 2017 GNAC Cross Country All-Academic teams, with the Alaska Nanooks men's and women's cross country running teams combining for 10 honorees.

To be considered for the GNAC's All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.00 scale (Simon Fraser uses the Canadian grading system of a 4.33), must be in their second year at their current institution (true freshmen, redshirt-freshmen and transfers are not eligible) and must be a letterwinner during the current season.

A total of 61 women were selected to this year's GNAC All-Academic team, including 30 repeat selections and 15 who are three-time honorees. On the men's side, a total of 42 men were named to the squad, including 21 repeat selections and nine three-time selections. Senior Lyon Kopsack is one of nine student-athletes on either All-Academic team to own a perfect 4.00.

Six from the Alaska Nanooks men's cross country team were named to this year's All-Academic team with seniors Alexander Eckert, Daniel Serventi and Kopsack leading the way as three-time honorees. Seniors Seiji Takagi and Carl Wahlin are repeat selections from 2016, while sophomore Lukash Platil makes his first appearance to the team.

Four from the Alaska Nanooks women's cross country team were honored on the list, led by senior Ann-Cathrin Uhl, who is a three-time honoree. Juniors Alex Bergholtz and Jocelyn Kopsack are repeat selections from 2016, while senior Sarissa Lammers makes her debut on the team.
