Nanook Swim Team Concludes NCAA Appearance

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Alaska Swim Team has concluded their 2014-15 season after Margot Adams, Katie Stark, Martha Hood, Victoria Adams and Nga Nguyen represented the Nanooks at the final day of competition for the 2015 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships held at the IUPUI Natatorium.

The Nanooks competed in only one event earlier today: the 100 yard freestyle. M. Adams, Stark and Hood competed individually in the preliminaries, but none succeeded in qualifying for the finals. M. Adams was the first Nanook to finish the preliminary round 31st overall with a time of 0:51.95, while Stark and Hood followed with times of 0:52.27 and 0:52.53 respectively.

Despite not qualifying for the finals on the last day of the national championships, the Nanooks made an impressive appearance overall. Martha Hood set a personal best time in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 0:57.0 seconds and was the highest Nanook finisher in the tournament taking 28th overall on day three.

For the fourth consecutive year, M. Adams finished within the top-five in the 100 yrd butterfly and earned an All-America title. The senior had also earned All-America Honorable Mention honors in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. Previously, M. Adams was named the conference champion in the 100 yrd butterfly four years in a row.

The remaining members of the 200 freestyle relay team and 400 medley relay team also earned All-America Honorable Mention honors. Those individuals were Stark, Hood, V. Adams and Nguyen.
