FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks rifle team reclaimed its No. 2-ranking in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Top-20 Poll this week after spending a week in third.

The Nanooks climb back to No. 2 without competing, as Alaska has not been on the range since Oct. 18, when they defeated then No. 3-ranked Air Force 4,711-4,684. In last week's CRCA Top-20 poll, the Nanooks fell to No. 3, as they were jumped by Murray State, who moved into a first-place tie with defending NCAA National Champion, West Virginia. The Racers dropped to No. 4 in this week's ranking after posting a 4,699 at the Buckeye Open and a 4,692 against Morehead State, which allowed Alaska to move back up to No. 2 in the Poll.

West Virginia stayed atop the CRCA Top-20, while Texas Christian came in at No. 3 and Kentucky holds the No. 5 spot.

Alaska will be on the line with No. 1 WVU, No. 4 Murray State and No. 5 Kentucky this Saturday at the Akron Invitational in Akron, Ohio in what will be a preview of the 2016 NCAA Championship range. That meet will be one of three this week for the Nanooks, as they open with No. 14 Akron on Thursday in the Buckeye State. After Saturday's Akron Invitational, the Nanooks will travel to the Bluegrass State to battle out with the Wildcats for the second time in two days.
