Women’s Cross Country Signs Grace Weller

FAIRBANKS – Head coach Scott Jerome announced the addition of Grace Weller (Petersburg, Alaska) to the Alaska women's cross country team as she signed an institutional letter of intent to run for the program this coming fall.

"Grace is another solid addition to our team both athletically and academically," Jerome said. "We expect Grace to add to the depth of our squad and have an immediate, positive impact."

Weller joins the Nanooks after competing as a multi-sport athlete at Petersburg High School. She was part of four teams in cross country (2012-14), basketball (2010-14), swimming and diving (2010-13) and track and field (2010-14).

She was a member of the Vikings' 2010 and 2013 Region 5 championship track and field team and was a state cross country qualifier, with a career-best 11th-place finish at the 2012 Alaska state meet.

On the court, Weller was named to the 2014 Juneau Empire All-Academic Team for the girls' basketball team and was a 2013 All-Tournament Team member at the Little Norway Tournament.

Weller intends to major in fisheries with a marine biology minor upon enrollment next semester. She joins Chandra Smith (Emmett, Idaho) on the list of signed runners for the 2014 season.
