GENEVA, Ohio — Three more All-America accolades, including two in relay events, were the highlight of the Alaska women's swimming team's second day Thursday at the 2014 NCAA Division II Championships.
Â
Junior
Margot Adams (Anchorage, Alaska/Political Science) earned two All-America honors to give her three awards in the first two days of the meet. Adams finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, tying her school record with a time of 54.62 seconds. The fourth-place finish gives her three career top-5 finishes in the 100 butterfly at the NCAA Championships.
Â
Adams was also part of the Nanooks' 400 medley relay team that earned All-America status with an eighth-place finish in 3:46.76. The team of freshmen
Victoria Adams (Anchorage, Alaska/Accounting) and
Nga Nguyen (Wiesbaden, Germany/Psychology),
Margot Adams and senior
Bente Heller (Hamburg, Germany/Psychology) set a new program record during the morning's preliminaries with a time of 3:45.18.
Â
Alaska's 200 freestyle relay also earned All-America Honorable Mention recognition, finishing 14th in 1:35.74 – just 0.03 seconds off of the school record. The relay team consisted of junior
Danielle Lyons (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan/Biological Sciences),
Victoria Adams, Nguyen and Heller.
