MIDWAY, Utah – Redshirt sophomore
Kenneth Brewer (Chugiak, Alaska/Biological Sciences) turned in his highest finish at the 2014 United State Nationals as he led the Alaska men's skiing team with a 40th-place finish out of 83 racers in the 30-kilometer free skate mass start race Wednesday at Soldier Hollow.
Brewer completed the longest race of the team's trip to Utah with a time of 1 hour, 25 minutes, 16.1 seconds, which ranked just outside the top-20 among NCAA collegians competing in the race.
Junior
Logan Hanneman (Fairbanks, Alaska/Civil Engineering) was not far behind as he was the second Nanook to cross the finish line with a time of 1:25:48.8, good for 45th place. Senior
Max Olex (Aalen, Germany/Business Administration) came in three spots later in 48th after clocking a time of 1:26:23.1.
Junior
Jonas Löffler (Saint Märgen, Germany/Business Administration) took 53rd in 1:27:23.6 and redshirt sophomore
Stefan Hajdukovich (Fairbanks, Alaska/Business Administration) was 59th in 1:28:15.3.
Rounding out the field for Alaska was redshirt freshman
Isaac Lammers (Eagle River, Alaska/Mechanical Engineering), who crossed the line in 1:33:27.7, for 71st place. Sophomore
Michael Fehrenbach (Saint Märgen, Germany/Mechanical Engineering) is battling an illness and did not finish.
Alaska completes its stint at U.S. Nationals on Friday with the 1.5K classic sprint race.
