–  The second-ranked Alaska rifle team closed out the home weekend with an improvement in the overall score from its match two days ago, rolling to a victory over The Citadel's mixed and women's teams Monday at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.
 
The Nanooks stayed unbeaten after firing a team total 4693, outscoring the Bulldogs' co-ed and women's teams, which provided scores of 4451 and 4211.
 
Alaska registered a 2355 in rifle while turning in a 2338 in smallbore and The Citadel's mixed team tallied 2251 and 2200 while the women's team had a 2174 and 2037.
 
Senior Mike Liuzza (New Orleans, La./Business Administration) led the charge in air gun with a match-high 593, followed by a 591 from junior Ryan Anderson (Great Falls, Va./Biological Sciences). Anderson was perfect in air rifle through 29 shots.
 
Sophomore Tim Sherry (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mechanical Engineering) fired a 589 an junior Mats Eriksson (Malung, Sweden/Business Administration) tallied 582 while sophomore Lorelie Stanfield (Fairbanks, Alaska/English) rounded out air gun with 581.
 
In smallbore, Sherry led all shooters with a 589 and Anderson completed the three-position disicipline with a score of 585. Stanfield had a 583, followed by Liuzza's 581 and Eriksson's 579.
 
Outside the team score, other notable performances came from sophomores Keanu Paikai (Honolulu, Hawaii/Mechanical Engineering) and Jaimie Barnes (Fairbanks, Alaska/Justice). Paikai had scores of 580 and 573 while Barnes turned in totals of 578 and 565.
 
The Citadel was led by Richard Hunton, who shot 567 and 554 for the mixed team and Teddi Haliscak, who led the women's squad with scores of 559 and 528.
 
The Nanooks will have a week off before hitting the road for their final regular-season dual match at West Virginia on Feb. 6, followed by the first-ever Patriot Conference Championship on Feb. 8-9 in Columbus, Ohio.
