Mass Start Results
CABLE, Wis. – The Alaska men's skiing program led all teams with four top-10 finishes in the 15-kilometer free skate mass start race at the Telemark Distance Series on Saturday morning.
Senior
Max Olex (Aalen, Germany/Business Administration) led the pack with a sixth-place finish in the college race consisting of 72 men as he crossed the finish line with a time of 38 minutes, 31.5 seconds. His mark was 38.9 seconds back of the
Kyle Bratrud of Northern Michigan, who won the event in 37:52.6.
Olex was followed closely by three of his teammates, who would take the next three spots. Sophomore
Michael Fehrenbach (Saint Märgen, Germany/Mechanical Engineering) overcame illness from last week and took seventh with a time of 39:03.7.
Junior
Logan Hanneman (Fairbanks, Alaska/Mechanical Engineering) crossed the line six seconds later in eighth place with a time of 39:09.7 as he battled all the way back from about 50th place after breaking a pole at the start of the race.
Junior
Jonas Löffler (Saint Märgen, Germany/Business Administration) was the final Nanook in the top 10 with a ninth-place showing in 39:49.4.
Sophomore
Stefan Hajdukovich (Fairbanks, Alaska/Business Administration) was 17th among collegiate with a time of 40:23.8 while freshman
Isaac Lammers (Eagle River, Alaska/Mechanical Engineering) rounded out Alaska's performances, clocking a time of 42:30.4 to take 24th place.
The Nanooks return to action Sunday morning with the 10K classic race.
