FAIRBANKS – No. 2 Alaska rewrote the record books for the second time this season with a program record, except this time, it did it against top-ranked Kentucky with a 4702-4671 victory Saturday at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.

The Nanooks (5-0) remained unbeaten this season as they fired an NCAA-best 2337 in smallbore and a 2365 in air rifle. That score was eight points better than the previous record of 4692, set back on Oct. 13 against Ole Miss. The Wildcats (5-1) shot 2317 in smallbore to go with their 2354 in air gun.

Sophomore
Tim Sherry (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mechanical Engineering) led all shooters with a 588 in the smallbore discipline, which included a perfect 200 in the prone position. His mark was one point ahead of junior teammate
Mats Eriksson (Malung, Sweden/Business Administration), who had a 587. Junior
Ryan Anderson (Great Falls, Va./Biological Sciences) had a 582 and sophomore
Lorelie Stanfield (Fairbanks, Alaska/English) rounded out the team's smallbore with a 580. The Nanooks' top three shooters in the discipline bested all five of UK's shooters.

On the air gun side, Anderson led the way with a  594, and senior
Mike Liuzza (New Orleans, La./Business Administration) followed with a 592, as the duo both had a pair of perfect scores in a series of 10 shots. Sherry was a point back with 591 and Eriksson rounded out the team's score with a 588. Stanfield also shot a 573 in air rifle.

For the Wildcats,
Connor Davis led the squad with a 581 in smallbore and 593 in air rifle while
Aaron Holsopple matched Davis' 581 in the smallbore competition.
