FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Alaska rewrote the record books on Sunday as the third-ranked rifle program didn't just beat No. 14 Ole Miss, but also shot its best score in school history, with a 4694-4610 victory at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.

The team total broke the previous record of 4692 set back in the 2006-07 season against Army. The Nanooks fired in a 2362 in air rifle and a 2332 in smallbore while the Rebels turned in scores of 2325 in air gun and 2285 in smallbore.

Junior
Ryan Anderson (Great Falls, Va./Biological Sciences) led Alaska with match-highs in both disciplines as he once again shot a personal-best score of 596 in air rifle to go with a 591 in smallbore, which was 14 points better than a day ago. In the prone, Anderson tallied a perfect 200 with 20 X's.

Sophomore
Tim Sherry (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mechanical Engineering) was one point back of Anderson in the air gun with a 595, while junior
Mats Eriksson (Malung, Sweden/Business Administration) was five points better today with a 591.

Also in air rifle, senior
Mike Liuzza (New Orleans, La./Business Administration) had a 580 and sophomore
Lorelie Stanfield (Fairbanks, Alaska/English) added a 576. Sherry and Liuzza also matched Anderson as the duo both had a 200 in the prone position and both had 17 X's each.

In smallbore, freshman
Dan Geer (Colorado Springs, Colo./Business Administration) shot the team's second-best mark with a 584. Liuzza notched a 579 while Sherry and Eriksson added a 578 and 575, respectively.

For Ole Miss,
Melissa Quartarone had team-high scores of 586 in both air rifle and smallbore.
Abigail Stanec was second for the Rebels with a 584 in air gun and 570 in smallbore.

The Nanooks will return to action four weeks from now when they hit the road for a match Nov. 7 at No. 1 Jacksonville State, followed by a Nov. 9 meeting at fourth-ranked Texas Christian.
