FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The third-ranked rifle team saw some strong numbers Saturday as it very easily downed No. 16 North Carolina State by the final count of 4677-4594 at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.

The Nanooks (2-0), whose team total was six off their season-high mark, tallied scores of 2359 in air rifle and 2318 in smallbore while the Wolfpack totaled 2309 and 2285, respectively.

Junior
Ryan Anderson (Great Falls, Va./Biological Sciences) fired an impressive 596 in the air rifle discipline to lead all shooters on the day. Sophomore
Tim Sherry (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mechanical Engineering) turned in a 591 while both junior
Mats Eriksson (Malung, Sweden/Business Administration) and sophomore
Lorelie Stanfield (Fairbanks, Alaska/English) had identical scores of 586. Senior
Mike Liuzza (New Orleans, La./Business Administration) added a 568.

On the smallbore side, Sherry had a team-high 582, with Eriksson following with a 581. Liuzza turned in a 578 and Anderson tallied 577 while rookie
Dan Geer (Colorado Springs, Colo./Business Administration) also contributed a 573.

For NCSU,
Lucas Kozeniesky led all shooters with a 583 in smallbore while
Daniel Cliff led the 'Pack with a 585 in air gun.

The Nanooks are back at it Sunday when they face 14th-ranked Ole Miss.
