The Alaska swim team finished its regular season at Simon Fraser Monday. Courtney Nichols was the star of the show with the team's only two wins.

Nichols won in the 400 SC Meter IM (5:11.21) and 200 SC Meter Breaststroke (2:45.62). She achieved the short course meters NCAA “B” Standard in the 400 IM and barely missed the cut in the 200 Breast.

“The swim of the meet for us was Courtney Nichols' 400 IM,” head coach Scott Lemley said.

Because Simon Fraser swam the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay as an exhibition, the Nanooks picked up a win in the event with a 4:48.45 mark—45 seconds behind the Clan.

Kinsey finished second in the 800 SC Meter Freestyle (9:42.08) and in the 200 SC Meter Butterfly ((2:35.00).

Bente Heller also took home a pair of second place finishes: the 50 SC Meter Freestyle (28.03) and the 100 SC Meter Freestyle (1:02.09).

Mariya Pavlovskaya finished second in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle with a 2:12.53.

PCSC Championships run Feb. 16-19 in Long Beach, Calif.

“We leave for our conference meet in exactly four weeks,” Lemley said. “By then I should have a pretty good indication of just how well our training in Flagstaff went. From all appearances, it went very well.”
