Swimmers Drop First to SFU, 122-76

The Alaska swim team dropped its first of two meets with Simon Fraser Friday by a final score of 122-76. The Nanooks took two first-place finishes in 11 events against the Clan.

Mariya Pavlovskaya took the 400 Yard IM (4:37.29) and Courtney Nichols captured the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:28.88).

Pavlovskaya, Nichols, Meghan O'Leary and Kendra Day finished second in event one, the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:55.22). The finish came less than four seconds behind the Clan.

Pavlovskaya also finished second in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:11.83).

Day finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.29) and third in the 100 Yard Freestyle (58.22).

Kinsey Laine netted a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:24.07).

The Nanooks return to the pool tomorrow at noon for the second meet of a dual meet with the Clan.
