WWU Defense Shuts Down Alaska

Bellingham, WA ­- The Vikings of Western Washington used suffocating defense on guard Sheena Brown and forward Ronisha Edwards to shut down the Nanooks offense and put the game away before halftime.

WWU jumped out of the gates with a 20-0 run before the Nanooks got on the scoreboard from two free throws from Brown. Western Washington led at halftime 34-6. The Vikings went on for a 77-32 win.

Brown had a team high 16 points on 5-28 shooting from the floor. Edwards had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Alaska will play their final road game of the season this Saturday at Central Washington. In the first game against the Wildcats, Brown set the Alaska single game scoring record with 44 points. Tip is scheduled for 5:15 ASKT.
