[Individual Results]

FORT WORTH, TX
— Alaska Nanooks rifle senior Patrik Sartz (Stora Sundby, Sweden) was near the top of his game Wednesday afternoon as the Blue and Gold topped the Texas Christian University for a 21-point victory, outscoring the Horned Frogs 4,660-4,639.

In just the second match of the year, head coach Dan Jordan's squad was just two points shy of the team's best score from the 2008-09 campaign.

The air rifle portion of the match was decided by three points with the Nanooks edging out the 2,354-2,351 victory. Sartz led all shooters with his personal-best air rifle score of 598 out of 600. The Swede only missed the bull's-eye twice and managed to shoot 45 consecutive 10s en route to his career-best performance.

Although he endeavored to put up big scores as a junior and fell short, the performance was not surprising for Sartz, who was the NCAA individual air rifle champion in 2008.

Alaska's scoring team was rounded out by junior Jace Bures (Odell, NE), who also notched a personal-best 589, junior Cody Rutter's (Palmyra, PA) 585 and freshman Dustin Chesebro's (Laramie, WY) 582.

The margin of triumph was more sizeable in the smallbore discipline as the Nanooks beat TCU 2,306-2,288. This time Rutter led the way with a 582, while Sartz was second best with a 578, followed by senior Layne Lewis (Fairbanks, AK)' and Bures' 573 apiece.

The Nanooks complete their three-match road swing this Friday, when the take to the line against the University of Nevada for a dual meet in Reno.
