FAIRBANKS, AK - Forrest Karr, Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation for the University of Alaska Fairbanks, announced today that Brice, Inc. will be the title sponsor of the Alaska Goal Rush Division I men's ice hockey tournament, hosted by the Alaska Nanooks. The agreement covers the first two years of the tournament (2008 and 2009).
"The Brice family has been involved with hockey in the Fairbanks community for over 35 years as players and coaches and through sponsorships," said Brice, Inc. President, Sam Brice. "Three members of our management team are past Nanook goaltenders - Alba Brice, Todd Henderson and Preston McKay. Brice Companies are community-oriented businesses that believe strong athletic programs help promote healthy communities. On behalf of the Brice family, we are proud to sponsor this new event for the Fairbanks community."
"We are very fortunate to have the generous support of a locally-owned company that cares about the university and cares about hockey at all levels in Fairbanks," said Karr, who along with UAF marketing and promotions assistant, Sheena Cummings, led the effort to recruit Brice as the title sponsor.
Brice Companies is a family-owned small business headquartered in Fairbanks, Alaska with over 45 years of arctic experience. Brice performs heavy civil construction, environmental remediation, marine services and provides quarried products through Browns Hill Quarry.
The Nanooks will host the inaugural Brice Alaska Goal Rush on October 17-18 at the Carlson Center. The tournament field includes the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, the Maine Black Bears, the Mercyhurst Lakers, and the host Alaska Nanooks.
Current season ticket holders will have first right of renewal for their seats for the Brice Alaska Goal Rush and season tickets for new season ticket holders will go on sale July 21, which will give them the option of purchasing tournament tickets too.
Individual tournament packages (separate from season tickets) will go on sale later this summer, with individual session tickets opening up in September.
