MONMOUTH, OR The difficult road trip for the Nanook women continued as they suffered another frustrating loss against Western Oregon, 78-72. Trailing by as many as 16 in the first half, Alaska would show their character in fighting back to take a one-point lead with just over seven minutes to play.

But after leveling the scores at 57-57, the Wolves would use a 7-2 run to push ahead of the Nanooks for good, as five late points from Katie Torland would be enough to see the home side to victory.

Sheena Brown led the Nanooks in scoring for the twelfth time this season, putting 22 on the board against Western Oregon. Joscelyn Shumate would also put up 13 points for the second straight game, while Cristina Bruketta would hit four shots from behind the arc for 14 points. Kari Reabold led the team with 7 rebounds.

Western Oregon's Leada Berkey would lead all scorers with 26 points, while Torland would add 19 to the Wolves' cause as well. The home side would enjoy a significant advantage over the Blue and Gold on the boards as well, outrebounding Alaska 43-30.

Next up for the Nanooks is a trip to arch-rival Anchorage to take on the region's No. 4 ranked Seawolves. Tip-off in that game at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex is set for 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 23.
