ELLENSBURG, WA- Alaska's men struggled to keep pace with the red-hot Wildcats, as Central Washington handed the young Nanooks a 108-71 loss. Central would shoot over 73 percent from the floor in the first half, including connecting on 14 of their first 15 shots to make life tough for the Blue and Gold.
The loss drops Alaska to 4-16 on the season, and to 1-10 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
One bright spot for the Nanooks was the play of freshman guard Travis Pew, who connected for a career-high 14 points, draining six of his 12 shots from the floor. Mladen Begojevic finished with a game-high 19 points in the loss, while Keven Campbell added 15 as well.
Brandon Foote and Nate Jackson led the Wildcats with 18 points apiece, as the home team finished with six players in double figures for scoring.
Alaska will now make the short trip over to Bellingham for a meeting with the Vikings of Western Washington, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game can be followed live online via the Western Washington website, which can be found here.
