PHILADELPHIA, PA - Former Alaska Nanook left wing Kyle Greentree has been recalled to the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, according to a news brief on the team's website today. Greentree, who has been playing for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League, is eligible to make his NHL debut in Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders, which will air live on Versus at 7:00 p.m. EST.
Greentree is currently second on the Phantoms in scoring with 16 goals and 21 assists for 37 assists in 48 games. He has 13 points (6g, 7a) in his last 10 games.
He will be taking the roster spot vacated by Flyer's forward Simon Gagne, who left Sunday's game in Pittsburgh with a mild concussion. Greentree will wear jersey number 65 for the Flyers.
The 24-year-old Victoria, British Columbia native was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on March 15, 2007, after a three-year career with the Blue and Gold. A two-time Steve Moria Most Valuable Player, Greentree led the Nanooks in scoring all three seasons he played, leaving the Last Frontier with 41 goals and 60 assists (101 points) in 115 career games.
With an appearance in tomorrow's game at New York, Greentree will become the seventh skater in program history and the third alumnus this season to play in the NHL, following former Nanook skaters Jordan Hendry (defenseman) of the Chicago Blackhawks and Aaron Voros (forward) of the Minnesota Wild who made their debuts earlier this year.
