Fairbanks, AK - Korlyn Bolster (Guerneville, CA) continued her hot hitting as she finished the game with 15 kills at a .462 percentage. The Blue and Gold led start to finish as they swept Saint Martins 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-17), in the Patty Center Saturday night.
Bolsters hitting was provided by setter Alexa Sherman, (Calabasas, CA), as she had 39 assists in the match. The quick set from Sherman to Bolster, and others was working for the Nanooks all night.
Junior Megan Thigpen (Spokane, WA) also caused the Saints trouble with her jump serve. With the second set tied 5-5, Thigpen rocketed five straight serves, which allowed the Nanooks to run away with the set 25-15. The outside hitter also reached double digit kills with ten.
The Nanooks' Hannah Armstrong (Eagle River, AK) played a solid defensive game at the libero position. She had eight digs in the first two sets, and was spelled in the third set by senior Miranda Trudeau (Chimacum, WA).
The Saints top performers were Kirstyn Druzianich with eight kills, and setter Amber Roberts with 23 assists.
With the win the Blue and Gold improved their record to 15-7 (9-4 GNAC), while the Saints fall to 4-16 (1-11 GNAC). The Nanooks next match will be held in the Patty Center, Thursday Nov. 6th at 7:00 p.m. The Blue and Gold play host to Montana State-Billings.
