• Alaska will play a two-game series against OSU for the second time in three weeks (20 days). The Nanooks managed to take three points from the visiting Buckeyes in Fairbanks (Dec. 14-15) with a 2-1 OT win and a 2-2 OT tie.

• Alaska trails OSU in the all-time series 17-20-3 and is 5-12-1 on the Buckeyes home ice. The last time the Blue and Gold proved victorious against OSU on the road was in 2003 (Feb. 21-22, 2003, by scores of 4-1 and 5-4).

• The Nanooks visited Columbus on the same weekend last season (Jan 5-7), when they were swept by OSU 6-2 and 3-2. This year they will look to snap a six game losing streak in Columbus.

• Senior goalie Wylie Rogers is 1-0-1 against OSU this season with a 1.40 GAA and .955 saves percentage.

• With a loss and tie over the weekend against Alaska Anchorage, the Nanooks are 3-3-3 in their last nine games. In that stretch the Nanooks have outscored their opponents 22-21, with an impressive 7-2 advantage in the first period.

• The Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup and in-state bragging rights will reside with Anchorage for at least one more year as the Nanooks fell 0-3-1 at the hands of the Seawolves for the second consecutive season. Although they lead the all-time Cup series 8-7, the Nanooks will have to wait another year to get a chance at relieving their archrivals of the Governor's Cup and snapping a 0-6-2 winless skid against UAA.

• Three of Alaska's last four games have required an extra session to determine the outcome. The Blue and Gold are unbeaten (1-0-3) in overtime games this season)

• Michigan native and former Bowling Green forward Ryan Hohl has joined the Alaska Nanooks for the remainder of the 2007-08 season. Hohl walked on at BGSU in the fall of 2006 but was forced to take a medical redshirt for the 2006-07 season due to a leg injury. After spending the first semester at Bowling Green this year, the 22 year-old left-hander transferred to the University of Alaska Fairbanks this month and brings three and a half years of remaining NCAA eligibility to the team.

• For the first time since the Alaska joined the CCHA, it was unable to capture at least one win outside of conference play in its non-conference contests.

• Following this weekend's tilt, the Nanooks will remain in the lower 48 and travel to Big Rapids, Michigan, where they will meet the Ferris State Bulldogs (Jan. 11-12). Alaska's next home series is Jan. 18-19, when they face rivalry-partner Nebraska-Omaha and open up a six-game homestand from Jan. 18 to Feb. 2. Four of the Nanooks' final six regular-season series will be played at home.
