March 7, 2007

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Junior left wing Kyle Greentree (Victoria, BC) was recognized with honorable mention to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Rookie team Wednesday, as announced by the CCHA.

In addition to the 12 players chosen for the First and Second Team accolades, the next six-highest vote getters, regardless of position, received Honorable Mention recognition. Greentree was tied for the second highest point total (14th) with Notre Dame's Eric Condra, each garnering 17 points apiece.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound left wing leads Alaska with 21 goals and 20 assists good for a career-high of 42 points. It marks the third consecutive season that he has led the Nanooks offensively. He also has a team-high 10 power-play goals and leads the conference in overall power-play goals.

He has career figures of 41-59--100 in 113 career games. A two-time recipient of the Keith Street Top Scorer award, last season he added the Steve Moria Most Valuable Player award to his list of accolades.

It is the second time in Greentree's three-year career in the Blue and Gold that he received honorable mention for an all-conference team. In 2005 he was recognized to the CCHA All-Rookie Team.

The 2007 conference first team was composed of: Michigan senior forward T.J. Hensick, Nebraska-Omaha senior forward Scott Parse, Michigan sophomore defenseman Jack Johnson and senior defenseman Matt Hunwick, Northern Michigan junior forward Mike Santorelli, and Notre Dame senior goaltender David Brown.

Both Miami and Lake Superior had two representatives on the CCHA All-Conference Second Team. Miami's junior forward Nathan Davis and classmate Ryan Jones, are joined by Lake Superior junior defenseman Derek A. Smith and senior goaltender Jeff Jakaitis. Completing the squad are Michigan junior forward Kevin Porter and Ohio State senior defenseman Sean Collins, who is making his first appearance on an All-Conference team.

In addition to Greentree and Brown, the other Honorable Mention players were (first place votes in parenthesis): Alec Martinez, SO, D, Miami, (1) 22; Andrew Cogliano, SO, F, Michigan, 15; Jeff Zatkoff, SO, G, Miami (1) 13; Noah Babin, SR, D, Notre Dame (1)12.

Three Nanook skaters who were noted in the others receiving votes section, included sophomore defenseman Tyler Eckford with four, senior forward Curtis Fraser with two, and junior defenseman Darcy Campbell with one.
