Reabold receives league recognition

Spokane, WA - Junior guard Kari Reabold (Fairbanks, AK) was rewarded for her for her hard work Tuesday when the Great Northwest Athletic Conference coaches selected her to the All-GNAC second team. Reabold, an honorable mention pick last year, raised her play significantly this season.

"Kari's been a player that has grown in this program," head coach Lynne Andrew said. "It's shown every year in her personal stat line and in the winning column, too. She's a difference-maker and a player that can turn a game around."

The 5-11 guard led the Nanooks with 16.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks in a team-high 35 minutes a game. Those numbers were a considerable improvement over her sophomore season by nearly six more points, almost two more rebounds and double the steals. She finished this year second in the GNAC in scoring, eighth in rebounding, seventh in steals and tenth in blocks. Reabold made more free throws (159-of-210) this season than any other GNAC player attempted, a testament to her quickness off the dribble.

"She's a very athletic player that can get to the basket and the free throw line," Andrew said. "She finds ways to help her team win on both ends of the floor, so she's deserving of the award."

Reabold ranks 17th all-time in scoring (817 career points) and 15th in rebounding (440 career boards). She is on pace to break into the top 10 of both categories and should become just the fourteenth player in school history to break the 1,000 point barrier.

"With the strides she's made each year, she has a great opportunity in her senior year to get to the top of the ladder," Andrew said. "She'll work hard this summer to complete her game. With the players we have returning and the ones we have coming in, we expect her to be a leader. Hopefully next year she'll take us to the top of the conference."
