Ohio State series notes 
• Alaska trails Ohio State 16-20-2 in the all time series; however, they lead the meetings in Fairbanks 11-7-1.
• When the met in Columbus last year, the Buckeyes swept the visiting Nanooks 6-2 and 3-2; however, when OSU last visited the Carlson Center, the teams split the weekend series. Alaska dropped the first game 5-1 before rebounding with a 3-0 shutout in the rematch.
• The Buckeyes are coming off a two-game split with St. Lawrence at home. The team scored three unanswered goals to win in overtime, 3-2 Friday. The victory was Ohio State's first win in overtime since March 13, 2005 (5-4 vs. Ferris State). The team is 1-0-1 in OT this season.
• The Nanooks and the Buckeyes are in the same scheduling cluster this season and will meet again in just three weeks (Jan. 4-5) in Columbus.
• With it's 3-0 blanking of Miami last Saturday Alaska became the first team this season to hold Miami, who leads the country in scoring offense (4.31 goals per game), scoreless in a game.
• The Nanooks have defeated four No. 1-ranked teams over the last three seasons. The first three occurred in 2005-06, when they staged a season-opening upset at Minnesota of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, followed a week later with a stunner against Michigan in the Carlson Center and then they shocked Miami at the old Goggin Ice Arena in February 2006.
• Senior goalie Wylie Rogers was named Saturday's First Star after stood on his head to stop 32-of-32 shots en route to his first shut out of the season and seventh of his career (to raise his program record for career shutouts); in doing so he backstop the Nanooks to a 3-0 victory over the No.1 Ranked Miami RedHawks (snapping a six-game winning streak) for the team's second win of the season (just Miami's second loss). Rogers improved his season figures to 2.82 GAA and .906 svs pct and career number to 2.86 GAA and .906 svs. pct.
• Junior defenseman Tyler Eckford registered a (5-on-3) power-play goal each night against No.1 Miami to help the Nanooks split the weekend tilt against the RedHawks. Eckford's goals helped Alaska go 3-for-11 (27.3 pct) on the power-play over the weekend and hold the Nations' eighth best power-play producers (22.4 pct.) to just 1-for-14 (93.9 percent PK for Alaska). He also led the Blue and Gold with 8 shots and 11 blocks on the weekend. The team's top blueliner continues to lead the Nanooks offensively with nine goals and five assists good for 14 points.
