FAIRBANKS, AK - The Alaska Nanooks jumped out to a 6-1 lead to open the match in their Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest Saturday night, but the visiting No. 18 Seattle Pacific University Falcons rallied behind tough serving to regain the lead and never looked back. SPU swept Alaska 30-25, 30-19, 30-25.

The Nanooks remain winless in the GNAC falling to 0-2 in the conference and 1-8 overall, while the Falcons improve to 2-0 and 10-2.

Sophomore middle hitter Korlyn Bolster (Guerneville, CA) led the Nanooks with 8 kills and two block assists and was supported by junior co-captain Jessica King (Hailey, ID) and freshman rightside hitter Jessica Hill (Colorado Springs, CO), who chipped in seven kills apiece.

Freshman Alexa Sherman (Calabasas, CA) dished 17 assists and sophomore Sedra Zlock (Spanaway, WA) added 11 assists and a team-high 12 digs.

Serving was key as the Falcons got six aces and an additional nine points from the Nanooks service errors.

SPU's Rachel Biornstad had an outstanding match hitting .412 off a match high 17 kills and only three errors. Jenna Von Moos dished out 44 assists and Tiffany Butac led the backcourt with her match-high 16 digs.

The Nanooks continue their GNAC schedule next Thursday, when they host the Crusaders of Northwest Nazarene at 7 p.m. AST at the Patty Center.
