FAIRBANKS, AK - Junior Kari Reabold (Fairbanks, AK) picked up where she left off last season with a game-high 18 points to lead the Alaska Nanooks over the UAF Alumni 67-57 at the Patty Center in exhibition action Thursday night. Reabold, last year's team MVP, added a game-high of nine rebounds to lead the Nanooks.

Sophomore Sheena Brown (Fairbanks, AK) tossed in 14 points and redshirt junior Trista Robinson (Fairbanks, AK) had 11 points and seven rebounds to round out Alaska's double digit scorers. Denise Perez ('01) led the Alumni with 12 points, four assists and three boards, while Jennifer Wasson ('06) chipped in 10 points.

The Nanooks jumped to a 7-2 lead, keyed by Reabold and Karen Rabung (Nikiski, AK), in the game's first three minutes and never looked back. Reabold opened scoring with a 15 foot jumper. After an Alumni basket, Rabung's lay-up and free throw gave the Nanooks a 5-2 lead. Thirty seconds later, Reabold scored a give-and-go lay-up off a pass from Rabung in the high post.

The Alumni battled back to tie the game at 12 apiece on a Wasson jumper. But Robinson answered with a three that staked Alaska to a 15-12 lead with 12 minutes to go in the half. The triple triggered a 19-6 Nanook run and they never relinquished the lead.

Trailing by 10 at the half, the Alumni used a 5-point run to open the second half but the Nanooks responded with an 11-2 burst to make it 44-31 with 15 minutes left. Reabold helped the Nanooks hold court by scoring 10 of her 18 over the final seven and a half minutes.

The game featured the return to the court of 15 former Nanook players including Jenny Benson, also a former Alaska head coach. On the bench to help out the veterans were former head coaches Diann (Aldrich) Darnall and Joe Tremerello.

The Nanooks will next face Mid-Continent College of Mayfield, KY on Nov. 10 at home. The Nanooks and the Lady Cougars will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. at the Patty Center.
